'Aches' was written as the closing track for the EP, and thus we wanted the lyrics to be a bit more conclusive to the story that we wanted to portray. The lyrics talk about the scars that are left inside the person from the initial loss of a loved one, and how they choose to deal with these issues in the aftermath.
In the end they question if it was worth it to go through all of the pain for so long. We wrote the instrumental to also follow the feelings portrayed in the lyrics, and as with the previous tracks it shows vulnerability, sadness but in an uplifting way.
lyrics
I fill my hands with broken glass,
Just to help me feel something,
The bitterness gets in my head,
Am I just sitting in silence?
We draw from the memories,
of our previous mistakes,
Though it leaves us hollow,
As we sit here in waiting,
You disintegrate
It is so hard to follow
In my heart,
While you keep fading away,
With my aches,
We seem so out of place
It’s all I’ve got,
Though I cannot,
See past these clouds in my thoughts
And now that you are lost,
I might as well give up
I chase through fields so green,
It may be killing me,
At least I’m trying to be free,
The bitter taste it fades
Just one last pill,
Then all of this will be okay
We sift through the silence,
of these empty halls,
Though it leaves us wanting,
As we sit here in sorrow,
You disintegrate,
It is so hard to hold on
In my heart,
While you keep fading away,
With my aches,
We seem so out of place
It’s all I’ve got,
Though I cannot,
See past these clouds in my thoughts
And now that you are lost,
I might as well give up
I might as well give up,
I might as well give up,
I might as well give up,
I might as well give up,
I might as well give up
In my heart,
In my heart,
It aches,
It aches,
In my heart,
In my heart,
When we all,
When we all just fade,
In my heart,
In my heart,
Will we all,
Will we all just fade?
